ARDMORE — Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione got a raise, a contract extension and a new title at the school's Board of Regents meeting on Wednesday.
It's a move OU President David Boren told the Associated Press "sends a strong message ... that we desire and expect Joe Castiglione to lead our athletic department for many years.”
Castiglione had been mentioned as a possible candidate to fill the vacant Big 12 Commissioner job.
Castiglione is now vice president for intercollegiate athletics programs and saw his salary bump up to $325,000. He could make a bonus amount of $155,000. Castiglione's contract was extended four years.
Other raises went to football coach Bob Stoops and basketball coaches Sherri Coale and Jeff Capel.
Stoops received a $50,000 annual raise. He now makes $2.625 million a year. His contract extended by two years to December 2013.
Coale got raise from $550,000 to $800,000 a year. Her contract now runs through 2017.
