Are longer school days needed?
The state's top educator Tuesday called for school days to be an hour longer, citing research that shows a strong correlation between time spent in class and learning.
State schools Superintendent Sandy Garrett also suggested increasing Oklahoma 's 175-day school year by five days, noting the current length ranks behind regional peers and far behind Asian countries.
