Sponsors came calling after Kevin Becker won the factory stock division last season at State Fair Speedway, and Becker is rewarding them this year with another run at the title.

Becker's lead over Dustin Buntin is more than 400 points and that's without a feature race win. What Becker has done is more impressive than a single victory. The 33 year-old driver from Wellston has notched nine top five finishes in nine races.

"We don't even think about winning a feature race,” Becker said. "We just want to finish well. If we run good and can get the car back on the trailer, it was a good night.”

It almost seems impossible for Becker to not finish in the top five. Last week, Becker blew a tire on lap nine of the feature race. Becker's race team put a new tire on and watched their driver get back into the top five in just six laps.

Becker said he has enjoyed some time off this season — a product of the rain. Becker doesn't get home on race nights until 2 a.m. and then has to be back out of his house by 7 a.m. to open the family gas and service station in Midwest City.

"It is just me and my dad running the place,” Becker said. "It has been kind of relaxing not getting home so late every Friday.”

Becker also splits his time helping start the racing career of six year-old son Tyler, who Kevin and his wife, Carla, recently purchased a super sprint for. But the fatigue and distractions have yet to slow Becker down and he knows possible sponsors are watching.

"It sure is easier to get sponsors when you win a championship,” Becker said. "And if we win a second, we will try to go out and win a third.”
