Four questions: Is Sam Bradford the No. 1 quarterback?

Did Sam Bradford win the starting quarterback job Saturday?

Bradford probably solidified himself as the starter for OU's Sept. 1 opener against North Texas by completing 12 of 17 passes for 130 yards and four touchdowns in Saturday's scrimmage.

But that doesn't mean talented freshman Keith Nichol won't get his chance.

Nichol has struggled with completion percentage, connecting on just 40 percent of his scrimmage passes.

Nichol, however, has shown more aptitude for delivering a big play, underscored by his 53-yard touchdown pass to Manuel Johnson on Saturday.

The coaching staff could turn to Nichol this season, especially if Bradford struggles against the Mean Green, or falls behind to Miami.

How should OU use its stable of running backs?

Last season, Allen Patrick showed why he is one of the elite runners in the Big 12.

Saturday, DeMarco Murray showed why the Sooners might have the best running back tandem in the conference outside of College Station.

Like Texas A&M's Jovorskie Lane and Mike Goodson, Patrick and Murray complement each other's running styles. Patrick runs well between the tackles, while Murray is always a threat to deliver a big run.

Even though Chris Brown, Jacob Gutierrez and Mossis Madu are capable runners, expect the Patrick-Murray duo to get the majority of this season's rushes.

What kind of threat does Miami pose to the Sooners?

More and more, Miami's chances of storming into Norman and coming away with an upset victory appear less likely, thanks to a slew of preseason injuries on its once vaunted defense.

The Palm Beach Post reported that first-year coach Randy Shannon erupted at his players following Saturday morning's practice.

"We're just holding everybody accountable for what they do,” Shannon told the Post. "It's not one situation. It's just (whenever) those guys are not being part of the team, doing the things we need to get done, that's my responsibility to get them to understand.”

Not only that, senior starting quarterback Kyle Wright has struggled so much in the preseason that reserve Kirby Freeman may beat him out. Wright is expected to miss this morning's scrimmage with a sore knee.

Even so, Miami will be adequate enough defensively to keep the game close, especially if OU's young quarterbacks make mistakes.

But this year's Hurricanes shouldn't be confused with Miami of the 1980s.

Who has been OU's scrimmage MVPs?

Few players have stood out in both scrimmages, perhaps with the exception of safety Nic Harris, receivers Adron Tennell and anuel Johnson and kicker Garrett Hartley.

Through two scrimmages, Harris has been physical, leading OU with 15 tackles.

Tennell caught three passes for 84 yards and two touchdowns Saturday, after leading the Sooners with five catches for 46 yards in the first scrimmage.

Johnson had touchdown receptions in both scrimmages, including a 53-yard catch from Keith Nichol.

Finally, Hartley kicked 57- and 61-yard field goals on Saturday.
