NORMAN — With school back in session, enrollment is under way for fall programs offered by Norman Parks and Recreation. Registration is open through Sept. 6, and classes will begin Sept. 10.

This year's schedule includes youth dance classes, adult dance classes, gymnastics, martial arts and adult fitness classes. In addition, after-school programs, basketball leagues for children and adults and an adult volleyball league will be offered.

The youth dance classes will be offered at Irving Recreation Center, 125 Vicksburg, and Reaves Center, on the corner of Constitution Street and Jenkins Avenue.

At Irving Recreation, classes will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Tuesday classes include toddler dance (ages 2 ½ to 3) at 5 p.m., pre-ballet (ages 4 to 6) at 6 p.m., beginning ballet (ages 7 to 11) at 7 p.m. and hip hop (ages 7 to 18) at 8 p.m. Wednesday classes include toddler dance at 5 p.m., ballet/tap combo (ages 4 to 6) at 6 p.m., jazz/tap combo (ages 7 to 11) at 7 p.m. and beginning jazz (ages 7 to 18) at 8 p.m.

Youth dance classes at Reaves Center will include beginning folkloric for ages 7 to 16 at 3 p.m. Sundays, preschool beginning folkloric for ages 3 to 5 at 6:30 p.m. Fridays, mother and daughter/beginning flamenco for ages 6 and up at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and intermediate flamenco for ages 6 to 17 at 8:30 p.m. Fridays. Enrollment fees range from $30 to $45 per month.

Clogging classes will be offered at 6 p.m. Tuesdays for ages 6 to 12 and at 7 p.m. Tuesdays for ages 13 and up. An advanced clogging class will be offered at 6 p.m. Thursdays. The classes will taught by Linda Jones at Whittier Recreation Center, 2000 W Brooks St.

Adult ballroom dancing classes taught by Candi Boone will be offered Monday evenings at Reaves Center. Beginning classes will be at 7 p.m., and intermediate classes will be at 8 p.m. Classes are open to anyone 13 years of age and up. Enrollment fee is $100 per couple, and a partner is required.

Gymnastics classes from pregymnastics to level two will be offered for ages 3 ½ to 14 at the 12th Avenue Recreation Center, 1701 12th Avenue NE. The classes are eight-week sessions; enrollment fee is $40. Call 292-7275 for days and times of classes.

Martial arts classes also will be offered this fall through Norman Parks and Recreation.

Tae Kwon Do, taught by Ed and Madeline Rugh, will be offered in the Norman High School girls' south gym. Session one will be Sept. 10 through Oct. 25, and session two will be Oct. 29 through Dec. 13.

Fitness classes for adults will include Slimnastics from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Instructor will be Eileen Lovasz; cost is $25 per month.
