Nancy Sullivan, spokeswoman for the technology center, said the award recognizes schools in Oklahoma that provide students with a good foundation to find jobs after graduation.

The tech center provides students from the Midwest City-Del City School District with classes to prepare them for work in careers such as auto service, carpentry, plumbing and welding. The school also offers classes in computer drafting, graphic communications, health sciences and nursing, among others.

Sullivan said this is the first time the school has received the award.
