Who's hot and who's not

Hot
Todd Dodge: Dodge will go down as one of the greatest high school coaches in Texas history, after winning four state titles in five years at Southlake Carroll to go along with a 48-game winning streak that will continue into this season.

But can he bring that winning to North Texas?

DeMarco Murray (right): Even though he's yet to carry the ball in a game, Murray has tremendous momentum based on his performances in the spring game and OU's second scrimmage.

In that second scrimmage, Murray was OU's best offensive player, rushing for 105 yards on nine carries with two touchdowns.

Against North Texas, Murray should get the bulk of the carries since returning starter Allen Patrick has an ankle injury and No. 3 back Chris Brown will be serving a one-game suspension.

Not?
•North Texas offense: From 2001 to 2004, North Texas won four straight Sun Belt Conference titles.

But that success has dissipated thanks to the Mean Green's 3-9 record last season.

North Texas had one of the worst offenses in the country last year, averaging just 12.8 points per game.

It may take awhile for Dodge's no-huddle spread offense to turn around the Mean Green's recent offensive utility.

•OU's other running backs: Murray has been strong this preseason, but OU's other runners have had problems.

Patrick and Brown have proven they can play, but they may need to return quickly before Murray takes away all their carries.
