Players to watch
Oklahoma
Running back DeMarco Murray

With Chris Brown suspended and Allen Patrick hobbled by a sprained ankle, Murray will get the ball early and often. His speed and knack for making big plays could produce gaudy numbers against North Texas.

North Texas
Field-goal kicker Thomas Moreland

The true freshman walk-on earned the starting job despite having three kicks blocked in Thursday's practice. He could be the Mean Green's best chance of getting on the scoreboard.

Key matchup
OU defensive coordinator

Brent Venables vs.

UNT head coach

Todd Dodge

Dodge is recognized as one of the nation's top high school coaches for what he did at Southlake Carroll. His offense led the state of Texas in total yards the last three years.

But he will get his first taste of college defenses against one of the top coordinators in the Big 12. Dodge's offense will focus on throwing the ball, while the strength of Venables' defense is its secondary.

Stat to watch for
48: The total number of points North Texas has scored against OU in their six meetings. It might take that many for the Mean Green to pull the upset today.
