Enrollment: 15,600
Mascot: Hurricanes
Conference: Atlantic Coast
Record: 1-0
Last game: Randy Shannon's debut as the ‘Canes coach went smoothly in a 31-3 win over Marshall.
Best players: Running backs Javarris James and Graig Cooper combined for 215 yards on 26 carries in Saturday's win over Marshall.
Why they could win: The James-Cooper tandem could be the best one-two running back punch OU faces all year. The Sooners are talented but somewhat unproven at linebacker, an area that will be tested by Miami's rushing attack. Kirby Freeman is a mobile quarterback as well, though he rushed for just 13 yards on six carries Saturday.
Why they could lose: Freeman struggled throwing the ball, going 9-of-21 for 81 yards. And OU's secondary will be much tougher than what Marshall offered.
Noteworthy: Coming off a 7-6 campaign a year ago, Miami entered the season unranked for the first time since 1998.
