Wolfe battling injury: OU co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach Bobby Jack Wright said Wednesday that senior strong safety D.J. Wolfe should not be limited Friday by a mild quadriceps strain that has bothered him this week.

But just in case, Wright has gotten extra work for a few other players at the strong safety position this week, namely senior Darien Williams and freshman Dominique Franks.

"If an emergency came up, we've got guys that are ready to go,” Wright said.

Franks has worked at both cornerback and safety positions since spring practice.

Williams, who started all of last season at free safety, fell down the depth chart while trying to come back from two offseason surgeries. He played strong safety in the second half of last week's blowout win over Utah State.

Right at Holmes: Oklahoma junior Lendy Holmes played just about every skill position in high school — receiver, cornerback, quarterback — so when he moved to free safety during training camp, it wasn't something unfamiliar to him.

But it was a lot different.

"During two-a-days, I felt like I wasn't ready for it,” said Holmes, a junior who has been a receiver and cornerback at OU. "I felt like I wasn't comfortable getting all the plays. As we continue out and start game-planning, now, I'm comfortable at it.”

Holmes is the Sooners' fifth defensive back in passing situations, backing up Nic Harris. He is currently third on the team with 16 tackles coming off what Wright called "his best game since he's been here,” referring to his five-tackle performance against Utah State.

Shuttle available: Fans attending Friday's 7 p.m. OU-Tulsa game are encouraged to park at the Tulsa Fairgrounds, where shuttle service will run continuously between the parking lot and Chapman Stadium starting at 5 p.m. until one hour after the conclusion of the game.

Parking will be available for $5 at the Expo Square lot at 15th Street/Gate 7, next to Drillers Stadium. Lots will open at 4:30 p.m.
