In a radio interview Friday on WWLS, Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said he has no regrets defending quarterback Bobby Reid and wants to move past his well-publicized post-game rant that has drawn national attention.

Gundy didn't talk about the game after OSU's 49-45 win over Texas Tech last Saturday. His entire, 3-minute, 30-second, post-game speech was aimed at The Oklahoman's Jenni Carlson and the newspaper for her column on Reid, who was replaced as the starting quarterback.
He said it's the last time he will discuss the incident and is surprised how much publicity it has received. He said he's been swamped with calls and e-mails.
"There's been so many responses,” Gundy said. "I'm not trying to win a political race. I want this to end. I appreciate all the support. You want people to know the guy is not completely out of his mind.”
Gundy said he has not seen video of his post-game outburst in its entirety. He reiterated he has no ill will toward Carlson or the newspaper.
He said one lesson he has learned is to say, "No comment” on subjects he cannot address. He said he's also heard from media members who believe the hot-button topic could lead to a healthy debate on how collegiate athletes should be treated by the media.
Gundy has turned down numerous interviews, including several national television outlets. He chose the Oklahoma City radio station because "we want to move forward.” He chose Friday because it's a slower day with only a team walk-through.
Gundy said he never intended to raise his voice during a postgame tirade at a newspaper columnist that's become an Internet sensation.
"My voice escalated as it went on because I got angrier when I thought about it,” Gundy said. "Not at any particular person, but when I thought about the way it happened and the embarrassment that it may have made to this young man, it made me angry and that's just a fact.”
Gundy said he loves his job enough that he hasn't been bothered by the reaction to his comments.

I would say that Jenni should be ashamed of herself, but the fact is that the Daily Oklahoman should be corporately ashamed of itself for keeping her on all this time. OPUBCO, apologize publicly to Messrs. ried and Gundy. Then, Ms. Carlson, apologize to Bobby Ried privately, then tell everyone you did, then have the good sense to move on to another media market, preferrably on the east coast, where we'll never hear from you again. (And by the way, just noone wrongly assumes an affiliation that isn't there -- BOOMER SOONER.)
We're suppose to look for the good in everyone-well, I've used a magnifying glass and haven't found much good on either side of this arguement, just a lot of smut!
your reporter on the OSU player did not need two of it's paragraphs! She did not have to be so rude, mean and EVIL. The story would have been fine without this, coddling by his mother, what has this world come to when we have to resort to this kind of reporting.
Doug-meridian SENDS!!! Since they won't let me post anymore. HA! HA! HA! A Cowboys fan dream. OpUbco, OU, and Texas all go down in the same week. I feel sorry for OU fans!! Not mOUrons!! OU fans!! Way to represent the Big 12 south. Doug also says don't worry OpUbco I won't be back except to be I thorn in your side. HA! HA! HA! From william-medford DITTO!!!
We'll see ho they stan behind JC when Mrs. Reid files her awsuit. She'll (JC) will be high and dry then. MOney ior Jenni...Gaylord family; "hmmmmm let's see, money or Jenni...I want to keep my money!!"
To Dave and any other OU "fan" that feels the need to bash OSU just to make themselves feel better about their own sorry life (by the way, how did that Colorado game turn out?): I have seen national polls where 90-95% of the rspondents support Mike. Do a little research before you spount off your incorrect answers and sound like a moron. Also, Gundy has the full support from Mike Holder and the university officials on this issue. Public opinion is overwhelmingly on Gundy's side. To all you OU losers: you shouldn't even be posting comments about OSU articles. Why do you even care? Get a life. Seriously.
David, the only ones supporting Carlson, or bashing Gundy, are media types and/or OU fans like yourself. Almost every coach weighing in on this have supported Gundy, include Pete Carroll among many other.
I believe that the only thing saving Jenni Carlson's job is the fact that Mike Gundy wants this interference to evaporate and will not point out the list of exaggerations and fallacies printed in last Saturday's column. The column reads more like a gossip rag than a legitimate sports article. It takes a man to take a stand, even more so when the rest of "progressive" society scoffs at that stand. Common values aren't that common anymore, and thus, much more valuable.
Noticed on the list below demanding an apology from OPUBCO is Berry Tramel's e-mail. I know Tramel is demanding an apology from his employer. What a joke. From the tone of Gundy's comments in the story it sounds like despite the jillions of comments supporting his bashing of a woman that his superiors in the athletic department and probably the OSU administration have said to him, "get this behind you. It's an embarassment to the university." Mr. "I'm a man" has become a national joke while outside of Oklahoma, Carlson has come out of this looking like some sort of victim. Gundy just wants this to go away.
These days newspapers need all the circulation they can get. I've lost track of the number of people who claim they are through with the Daily Joke. Change your ways or you will slowly, but surely, go under.
Sometimes it is hard for an adult to say "I made a mistake, sorry". But once she and her bosses tried to stand thier ground and say I/she did nothing wrong, then it would be almost impossible for someone to say sorry. Only the most mature and professional would now apoligize. I dont think J.C. and anyone at the DOK will meet either of those requirments!
