The National Weather Service said thunderstorm chances will remain in mainly southern sections of the state on Wednesday as a storm system that swept across the state on Tuesday continued to exit the region.
Other parts of Oklahoma and western North Texas could see another shot of precipitation Wednesday night and Thursday before a stronger system arrived over the weekend, forecasters said.
On Tuesday, skies were clear to partly cloudy and temperatures ranged from 83 degrees in Guymon to 95 degrees in Altus, forecasters said. The mercury peaked at 90 degrees in Tulsa and reached 92 degrees in Clinton, Hobart and Oklahoma City.
Skies should be sunny to partly cloudy on Wednesday, with a lingering shot at showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures should peak in the 80s before falling into the 50s and 60s overnight, the weather service said.
Partly cloudy conditions will linger and temperatures will soar into the 90s on Thursday, according to the weather service.
Forecasters expect partly cloudy and windy conditions on Friday, with a slight chance of storms in southeastern Oklahoma. Highs should reach the 80s and 90s and lows in the 50s and 60s are expected, forecasters said.
