2. Peter Gardere, Texas, 1989-92: the only starting quarterback to go 4-0 in the series, including late game-winning TD passes to Keith Cash and Johnny Walker the first two years.
3. Jason White, OU, 2001, 03-04: A relief winner in '01, then in '03 the best statistical game in series history, 17 of 21 for 290 yards, four TDs.
4. James Street, Texas, 1968-69: Original wishbone quarterback beat the Sooners with his legs and his arm.
5. Steve Davis, OU, 1973-75: 3-0 against Texas and keyed 52-13 rout as a sophomore with TD passes to Tinker Owens and Billy Brooks.
6. Mike Cotton, Texas, 1959-61: 3-0 against OU; ran for two TDs as a senior.
7. Major Applewhite, Texas, 1998-2000: 2-1 vs. OU; monster games his first two years, combining for 621 yards in victories.

11. James Brown, Texas, 1994-97: 2-1-1 vs. OU, starting with great game as freshman in '94.
12. Jamelle Holieway, OU, 1986-88: 3-0 vs. UT, two blowouts, then injured during a tight win in '88.
13. Jimmy Harris, OU, 1954-56: First start came in Cotton Bowl; went 25-0, with three wins over UT.
14. Eddie Crowder, OU, 1951-52: 1-1 vs. UT; keyed 49-20 win in '52 with TD passes to Buddy Leake and John Reddell off counter-option fakes.
15. Donnie Little, Texas, 1979-80: 2-0 vs. OU; huge recruit didn't live up to promise but twice beat the Sooners.
16. Marvin Kristynik, Texas, 1964-65: 2-0 vs. OU, leading 28-7 and 19-0 victories.
17. Jack Mildren, OU, 1969-71: 1-2 vs. UT, but 41-9 loss, in 1970, debuted the OU wishbone, which Mildren ran wonderfully in '71.
18. Jack Mitchell, OU, 1946-48: 1-2 vs. UT, but flawless running of split-T in 1948 keyed 20-14 win.
19. Cale Gundy, OU, 1990-93: 1-2 as a starter vs. UT but won as a senior and could have had relief win in 1990 had R.D. Lashar's field goal sailed true.
20. Vince Young, Texas, 2004-05: Shut out in 2004, led runaway victory in 2005.
21. Thomas Lott, OU, 1976-78: 1-1-1 vs. UT; turned back by safety Johnnie Jones on fourth down in '77, else Lott might be way up this list.
22. Colt McCoy, Texas, 2006: Has a chance to pull a Gardere, after leading ‘Horns to win as a freshman.
23. Danny Bradley, OU, 1983-84: 0-1-1 vs. UT but deserved a win in 1984.
24. Eddie Phillips, Texas, 1970: UT's last wishbone winner vs. OU.
25. Rick McIvor, Texas, 1981: Two second-half TDs keyed 34-14 Longhorn win.
