When Texas has the ball

When they run
In last year's meeting, Texas hit OU early and often with the rushing attack, using misdirection and zone running plays. Tailback Jamaal Charles is averaging about 5.5 yards per carry, but the Texas ground attack falls off after him. The ‘Horns have usually had a second option in the run game in recent years, but this season, that has been quarterback Colt McCoy, who has averaged about four rushes per game.

Defensively, the Sooners' strength is stopping the run, especially when the defensive linemen take up space, letting the linebackers and safeties come up and make plays.

When they pass
The ‘Horns offense is averaging around 450 yards per game and more than half of that has come through the air.

Quarterback Colt McCoy has completed more than 65 percent of his passes, but McCoy could miss the game after a concussion against Kansas State.

Star receiver Limas Sweed has been drawing the attention of opposing defenses, but he manages to find a way to make a big play.

Oklahoma's chore will be limiting him and pressuring the quarterback, no matter who it is.
