Stoops doesn't buy ‘Texas hangover'
OU coach says everything work well for Missouri
Stoops doesn't buy 'Texas hangover'

NORMANOklahoma coach Bob Stoops knows how good Missouri is, even if others around the country are just beginning to see it.

The Tigers visit Norman Saturday for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff as the No. 11 team in the country, their highest ranking since reaching No. 8 in October 1981.

"Everything's working for them,” Stoops said Tuesday during his weekly media luncheon inside Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. "But I don't recall any time last year that it wasn't either. I thought they were excellent last year and you see a lot of the same guys who are there and doing well.”

Missouri is coming off a 41-3 win over rival Nebraska in which Tigers quarterback Chase Daniel threw for a career-high 401 yards in Missouri's spread passing attack.

"He's really a good player,” Stoops said. "He has a great feel for that offense and distributing and throwing the ball in all the different holes he's looking for.

"He can scramble. He's got good feet and he's thick enough that you've really got to get a good hold of him to get him down.”

Stoops has never bought into the theory of the "Texas Hangover,” or emotional letdown the week after beating Texas. Stoops' teams are 8-0 the week after Texas.

"I just don't get the hangover deal,” he said. "There isn't anyone here walking around like we've done something. In the end, what does beating Texas do? It doesn't do anything.

"We're in the middle of a season. We've only played half of it. We're used to trying to compete and win championships here. You're not gonna get a lot of pats on the back around here for not doing that. The only way to do it is to win this week and keep winning.”

"Hangover", "Smangover" I am just glad we are playing Missouri in Norman. I expect they will be tough but with our home field advantage we should come out on top. "Oh You" will not be thinking about last weeks win, they know they will have their hands full this week. I just hope our "special teams" are awake and ready to play, we will need them more than ever with this game. I suspect we will see them again for the Big 12 Championship game....it will be hard to beat the same team twice, but "Go Sooners"...

Missouri is not a great team on the road, period. OU is awfully tough at home. Both teams are coming off of big games, but if any team is going to have a "hangover" it will be Mizzou because they SPANKED Nebraska...er, at least the people parading around in uniforms that looked eerily similar to those of the 'Skers. OU had a tight game and realizes there are things to work on. It's awfully tough to get down to brass tacks after you destroy a team like Mizzou did on Saturday.

Let's see. Who has Missouri played that is worth mentioning? I can't think of anyone. Shoot, NE gave up 41 points to Ball State. They squeaked by Illinois, which may have some legitimacy. Other than that, nobody. They have have a hangover once they get on the bus and leave Norman Saturday night. Boomer Sooner!!!

Have you ever thought that Missouri
might have "hangover" from the Nebraska
game ? Why is it always OU with the
"hangover problems" ?

I'm 100% behind Coach Stoops and the Sooners, but I'd like to point out that he didn't buy the altitude problem at Colorado, either.
