Before Moore played Westmoore in Saturday's Class 6A fastpitch softball championship game, Lady Lions pitcher Katie Lynn sat in the training room at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium with heating patches on her arm.

Lynn's arm was sore after throwing four games over the previous two days.

The junior only needed to get through one Saturday, and she did, throwing a complete-game three-hitter as Moore beat Westmoore 2-0 to win its second title in three seasons.

"I'm sure I'm going to be sore after awhile, but it feels fine now,” Lynn said.

After Lynn threw 14 scoreless innings Friday, she thought her offense might have to pick her up a bit more in the championship.

:I didn't think one run would be enough,” Lynn said. "Westmoore has a really good offense.”

The title is Moore's third. The Lady Lions also won the 2005 6A title and the 1974 one-class championship.

Just like in 2005, Moore had to win three games on Friday just to make the title game.

"The girls can bounce back a lot faster than I can,” said Moore coach Robert Wakefield. "We're a tired team, but that's just part of the game.”

For most of the game, Westmoore pitcher Kaci Quintero was as dominant as Lynn.

Quintero faced just one over the minimum through four before Drew Wright led off the fifth with a home run to center. Two innings later, Chelsea Garcia, who has committed to Oklahoma State, hit a no-doubt homer to left to give Lynn and the Lady Lions some cushion.

Garcia played on Moore's slowpitch team that lost to Westmoore in the spring championship game.

"I'm so glad I didn't have to go through that again,” Garcia said. "It's a total 180. I'm still shocked.”

Lynn finished her stretch of 21 scoreless innings on Kayla Hanley's popup straight over the pitcher's circle.

"I was just so relieved,” Lynn said. "I'm glad it's over and I'm glad we won.”
