OU quarterback Sam Bradford has been added to the watch list for the Maxwell Award, given to the nation's best college football player.

Bradford leads the nation in passing efficiency with a rating of 181.15. He has completed 70 percent of his passes for 1,689 yards and 20 TDs to just four interceptions.

Bradford has a chance to break the school's single-season record of 40 TD passes, set in 2003 by Jason White, also a Maxwell winner.

Tommy McDonald became the first of two Sooners to earn the honor in 1956.

Last year, Notre Dame's Brady Quinn won the Maxwell, becoming the fourth straight QB to be selected.

BCS talk: Coach Bob Stoops and the OU players didn't have much to say about the Sooners debuting at No. 5 in the first BCS standings.

But the coaches passed out sheets to players on Monday, listing all of the upsets in college football up to this week to remind the Sooners they can't overlook any opponent, including 1-6 Iowa State.

"Anybody can be beat,” receiver Juaquin Iglesias said. "We can't lose our focus in any game because there's talent everywhere.”

All Day: Stoops gushed Monday about the performance of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, who rushed for 224 yards and three TDs in a 34-31 win over the Chicago Bears.

The former Sooner standout earned offensive rookie of the month honors in September, and Stoops thinks he'll repeat in October.

"I bet he gets it again this month,” Stoops said. "We're all proud of him.”
