What does the Department of Human Services look at when considering whether to let former criminals be in day cares?

•Type and nature of offense

•Age of individual at time of offense

•Circumstances about the offense that demonstrate whether it is likely the person will offend again

•Number of offenses

•Length of time since last conviction or court finding

•Relationship of the offense to the ability to care for children

•Evidence of rehabilitation or educational activities such as counseling

•Statement from the individual with the criminal history

•Opinions of reliable community members about the individual
