‘Sticker shock' expected for Medicare drug plans

Consumers Union has issued a warning to senior Americans: Prepare for "sticker shock” when the open enrollment period for the Medicare prescription drug program begins Thursday.

The open enrollment period continues through Dec. 31 and allows subscribers the option to switch plans or for first-time enrollment in the program designed to cover most out-of-pocket expenses for Americans ages 65 and older.
