Cowboys have little to lose and a lot to gain in Bedlam after rolling past Baylor in Waco

WACO, Texas — Oklahoma State came to Baylor and got bowl eligible. Got dangerous, too.

On a night when Zac Robinson took his place atop the record books and Dantrell Savage reminded us how special he is, the most important thing for the Cowboys was notching that sixth victory and crossing the bowl-eligibility threshold.

OSU 45, Baylor 14.

Now comes Bedlam. The rivalry brings its own unique pressure, but the Cowboys will ride into Norman without the must-win tag slapped on the game, too. Their place in the postseason is secure. Representing the Big 12 South in the conference title game is non-existent. Their mentality is one of little to lose and lots to gain.

"Now, we've got that off our shoulders,” Cowboy defensive end Nathan Peterson said of getting bowl eligible. "We get that off our shoulders for our biggest game of the year.”

No doubt the Cowboys want to win, but after Saturday's win against the Bears, they no longer have the pressure of needing to win.

Big, big difference.

"We can breathe again,” defensive back Perrish Cox said. "We can play with a little more poise than if we had lost this game.

"We can just play.”

Look out for good teams who can go out and just play.

"We know we'll have nothing to lose when we go down there,” Robinson said.

The last time OSU went to OU with absolutely nothing to lose, Rashaun Woods caught a ball in the corner of the end zone and shocked the college football world.

Perhaps you remember 16-13.

By the way, this just in from the high plains of West Texas: the Sooners are reeling.

OU went to Texas Tech controlling its own destiny. After Oregon's stunning loss to Arizona, OU only needed to win out to play for a national championship. Then, Sam Bradford went down. The Sooners' championship hopes went down with him.

Will Bradford play next Saturday? Will the Sooners find their footing?

The Cowboys have theirs.
