I'm not usually a superstitious guy. I don't own a rabbit's foot. I did, however, own two black cats, and I let them cross my path on a daily basis. Broken mirrors, spilled salt? Bring 'em on.
But as I prepared for this past Sunday's Route 66 Marathon, I felt as if the gods of exercise might be sending me a signal. An omen, if you must. Their message: Step away from the 26.2-miler.
