Oklahoma State most likely will play in the Insight Bowl after Alamo Bowl officials indicated Monday they have narrowed their Big 12 choices to Texas A&M and Texas Tech..
The Alamo Bowl committee meets every Monday. Rick Hill, Alamo Bowl vice president for marketing and communications, said the leading candidates for the Dec. 29 game in San Antonio are Texas A&M and Texas Tech. "Those two teams finished with huge upset wins,” Hill said. "Either one of those two would be a great matchup. Like everyone else, we're waiting to see if the Big 12 gets two BCS teams.” If the Big 12 lands two BCS berths, Texas A&M probably will play in the Alamo Bowl. If the Cowboys play in the Insight Bowl Dec. 31 in Tempe, Ariz., their opponent most likely will be Indiana or Michigan State, although Purdue is a long-shot candidate. "We have to let it play out because we don't know what will happen on Saturday,” said Shawn Schoeffler, vice president of media relations for the Insight Bowl. "Everyone is guessing. We haven't done anything at this point. "We also have the Fiesta Bowl, so we have to see how the BCS shakes out. (Despite rumors Arizona State will be the Big 12 opponent) there's no way we'll ever come out and say, ‘Here's our first choice or our second choice.' ”
