Nearly 12,000 Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative customers spanning from rural Harrah east to Eufaula are without power. That accounts for half the cooperative's system, a cooperative spokesman said.

Three-fourths of Stroud's power is out, including power to the water treatment plant, Lincoln County Emergency Management Director Joey Wakefield said. Agra, Carney and Chandler also have widespread outages, he said. Wakefield said communication systems are down for the sheriff's department and county commissioners so crews are relying on a fire department frequency to communicate.

"We're pretty socked in over here," Wakefield said. "It's like driving on ball bearings."

About three-fourths of Shawnee is without power, including downtown businesses, City Hall and the Pottawatomie County Courthouse, Shawnee Emergency Management Director Don Lynch said. City Hall is running off generators, although customer service departments are closed this morning along with the courthouse.

Power outages have closed city halls in Choctaw and Midwest City. Municipal court is cancelled in both cities.
