Nearly 12,000 Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative customers spanning from rural Harrah east to Eufaula are without power. That accounts for half the cooperative's system, a cooperative spokesman said.

Three-fourths of Stroud's power is out, including power to the water treatment plant, Lincoln County Emergency Management Director Joey Wakefield said. Agra, Carney and Chandler also have widespread outages, he said. Wakefield said communication systems are down for the sheriff's department and county commissioners so crews are relying on a fire department frequency to communicate.

"We're pretty socked in over here," Wakefield said. "It's like driving on ball bearings."
