It could be seven to 10 days before power is restored to the nearly half a million customers without power in what has become the largest outage in state history.

Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co. announced this afternoon that the likelihood is high that power restoration work will continue through this week and possibly longer.

The worst case scenario is that a small number of OG&E customers still could be out of power seven to ten days from now, spokesman Gil Broyles said.

The nearly 240,000 customers without power represents a record number of outages for the utility. Of those outages, about 220,000 are in the Oklahoma City metro area.

Public Service Company of Oklahoma is reporting about 200,000 outages, with most affecting the Tulsa area.

PSO officials also expect it could be seven to 10 days before all of its customers regain power.

We are off of SW 149th and we were without power today from 1-8 so far so good for tonight. My family off of SW 44th Street has been without since 5am and still have no power....OG&E has to get a hold of cutting trees. I turned the ones in behind my house over the summer and they were never trimmed, I still have the message I sent to OG&E asking them to trim them....they are the reason our power was out for 7 hours today!!!

My home in SW OKC has above ground lines and so far has managed to keep power which is a minor miracle because this area is prone to losing power at the drop of a hat. In early October tree trimming was done in this area near the lines and I think that has helped. Trees are down everywhere and it's possible we could still lose power but so far so good.

not true C. My neighborhood has buried power lines and we haven't had power since 4 a.m. today. I'm at a house without buried power lines, and we have power.

The real truth is that it takes about $1,000,000 to bury a mile of power line. multiply that by 500 miles, that's a lot of money, my power is off but I don't think I could afford my electric bill to pay for hundreds of millions of dollars of improvements for a storm that comes along once every 10 years.

The real truth? The ONLY people with power in this entire city are those whose power lines are BURIED - and not just from their house to the pole. In the land of Wind and Ice, OGE still wants to cut down trees instead of FIXING the problem.

Looks like it's time to put ur energy where ur mouth is!! I've had the pleasure of watching OG&E commercials bragging how great they are and top in the nation for restoring power.

Hmmm, that should be long enough for them to push the rate increase through the Corporation Commission. You want power to your homes? Approve our rate increase!
