Stoops still answering Boise State questions
Among the first questions asked of OU coach Bob Stoops when he arrived in Phoenix was if last year's overtime loss to Boise State in last season's Fiesta Bowl affected his team's preparation for this year's Fiesta Bowl.

"It was a long time ago,” Stoops said. "In the end, everybody wanted to write about that all spring and through the summer. It has absolutely no effect on us whatsoever. Look at our first four games and see how it affected us.”

The Sooners defeated their first four opponents by an average of about 50 points a game.

Also there to greet the Sooners was a six-piece mariachi band that also played for the arriving players from West Virginia and Oklahoma State earlier in the day.

The OU buses were escorted to their hotel by a motorcade comprised of at least 11 police motorcycles.

•Several Sooners not on team plane: Many OU players didn't get off the team plane, instead making their own travel arrangements to Arizona after spending the holidays at home. Receivers Juaquin Iglesias and Malcolm Kelly and running back Allen Patrick were among the Sooners not seen deboarding the aircraft.
