Real estate experts to talk at luncheon
EDMOND — The
Edmond Economic Development Authority's 2008 Economic Preview Book Launch and Luncheon will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 24 in the
Nigh University Center at the
University of Central Oklahoma.
Real estate panel experts scheduled for a question-and-answer session are Mary Grace of
Grace Commercial Real Estate;
Derek Turner of
Turner & Co.;
Brian Preston of
RE/MAX Associates;
William Forrest of
CB Richard Ellis-Oklahoma; and
David Lide of Matrix Commercial.
Deidre Myers, director of research and economic analysis for the
Oklahoma Department of Commerce, will present information on the state economy.
Janet Yowell, executive director of the
Edmond Economic Development Authority, will give information on Edmond's economy and an overview of the information compiled in the 2008 Economic Preview Book. Edmond city and school officials also will make presentations.
Cost for the luncheon and book of presentations, data and reports is $30 before the event and $35 at the door.

Auctioneer earns national certificate
STILLWATER —
Gregg Pickens of Pickens Auctions has earned the
Certified Auctioneers Institute designation of the
National Auctioneers Association, which is held by fewer than 15 auctioneers in Oklahoma.
The designation requires a three-year commitment to an executive development program covering management skills, business ethics, finance and marketing.
Pickens Auctions conducts more than 100 commercial real estate and agriculture-related auctions per year.
Hotel brokerage firm handles 2 large sales
HotelBrokerOne, an Oklahoma City-based brokerage of hotels nationwide, handled the sale of two state properties recently.
OKCAL Hospitality LLC paid $5.22 million to
Oklahoma City Motor Inn LLC for the 149-room, limited-service Quality Inn at 7800 C.A. Henderson Blvd., near Interstate 240 and Western Avenue.
Peter Holmes handled the deal. Financing was by
Bank of Las Vegas.
"After undergoing a major renovation two years ago, this hotel is in excellent condition,” HotelBrokerOne said. The hotel is "in a potentially high-growth area.”
In Elk City,
Kalyan Hospitality LLC paid $1.85 million to
First American Exchange Co. LLC for the 65-room
Motel 6 at 2604 Highway 66.
Holmes handled the deal. Financing was by
Quail Creek Bank.
The motel remodeled in 2003-2004, is "strategically located at the convergence of old historic Route 66 and Interstate 40,” HotelBrokerOne said.
