West Virginia's triple-option
The Mountaineers moved all over the field with the triple-option, exploding for 349 rushing yards.

Fullback Owen Schmitt delivered a dagger when he rumbled over free safety Darien Williams and went 57 yards for a touchdown to put the Mountaineers ahead, 13-3.

West Virginia's early running success opened up the pass later in the game as quarterback Pat White finished with 176 yards passing and two touchdowns.

Sooner discipline
Just like in the loss at Texas Tech, OU shot itself in the foot with penalties.

In all, the Sooners finished with 13 penalties for 113 yards, many coming in costly situations.

Sooner offense
With Malcolm Kelly playing sparingly, OU struggled to get going offensively in the first half.

With no one able to stretch West Virginia's defense deep, the Mountaineers crowded the line of scrimmage, taking away the OU rush offense in the first half.

The Sooner offense had minus-1 yard of total offense after the first quarter.

Even though OU ended up with 419 yards of total offense, most of that came too late in the game.
