OCU women win national duals
Oklahoma City University's first-year women's wrestling program captured the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals women's championship on Sunday at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

The second-ranked Stars beat No. 1 Cumberlands (Ky.) 22-18 in the final dual. OCU beat No. 3 Missouri Valley 34-5 in the semifinals.

OCU avenged a 24-19 loss to Cumberlands on Nov. 10 at Abe Lemons Arena in the first women's college wrestling dual ever in Oklahoma. OCU hosts the Women's College Wrestling National Championships on March 15.

UCO takes third: Tyler Zukerman's second-period fall fueled an early win and a big lead, and No. 3 Central Oklahoma held off No. 1 Nebraska-Kearney 21-19 for third place in the NWCA Division II National Duals in Cedar Falls.

Zukerman's fall at 125 pounds and easy wins by Tim Elliott and Kyle Evans gave UCO a quick 14-0 lead, but the Bronchos had to hold on down the stretch to claim their third straight third-place finish in the 16-team tournament.

OU gymnasts win: The third-ranked OU men's gymnastics team won the Rocky Mountain Open in Colorado Springs, Colo., late Saturday in the team's first meet of the season. The Sooners finished with a total score of 343.550.

Freshman Steven Legendre claimed the first all-around title of his career with an 84.950.

OU was without senior Jonathan Horton, who was continuing to rest after a busy summer of international competition.

TU's Smith tabbed for another All-Star game: Tulsa quarterback Paul Smith has been selected to play in the East-West Shrine Game. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday at the University of Houston's Robertson Stadium. ESPN (Cox 29) will televise the game.

Smith also played in Saturday's Hula Bowl and will play in the Senior Bowl on Jan. 26.
