Joy Division singer Ian Curtis' tragic life makes for moving film

In the 28 years since Ian Curtis killed himself, the Joy Division singer became almost mythological — the outcome of his short, sad life gave the roiling drama of his music even greater resonance in its afterlife. Anton Corbijn 's "Control” does not romanticize Curtis. Instead, it portrays the singer in as many shades of gray as the director's own cinematography.
