The New Orleans Hornets, who have struggled with attendance all season, might have turned the corner last Saturday night when they had an announced crowd of 17,231 for a game against the third-to-last-place Memphis Grizzlies.

The Hornets have a long way to go before even sniffing the needed 14,735 average attendance from Dec. 1 through the end of next season to prevent owner George Shinn from possibly exercising his opt-out clause. But the team has averaged 15,195 fans over the past four games, and New Orleans' NBA future doesn't look as bleak as it did two months ago.
