In the 1970s it seemed as if there was an endless supply of movies — cheesy, but created for the entire family.
"The Game Plan” takes us back to the sort of film that is entertaining yet also innocent enough for the entire family.

Dwayne Johnson (formerly known as wrestling star "The Rock”) continues his transformation into a likeable action/comedy star playing pro-football quarterback Joe Kingman, a borderline egomaniac whose biggest glee is watching his interviews on ESPN. He's an NFL celebrity enjoying a seemingly utopian bachelor life.
Inexplicably, a little girl (Madison Pettis as Peyton Kelly) shows up at his door calling him "Daddy” and talking about a mother who dropped her off before heading on to Africa.
The storyline itself is no big surprise and we've seen it before in "Big Daddy” and "The Kid.” Child attaches to reluctant adult, relationship forms, crazy antics ensue and life lessons are learned.
Complicating matters this time is a sports agent (Kyra Sedgwick as the cynical and greedy Monique Vasquez) and a plastic girlfriend (Kate Nauta as Tatianna).
Some nice special features on this DVD include deleted scenes, commentary and easy to find "easter eggs” that connect to interactive games. Sometimes it's not the story, but the chemistry that makes a movie click.
And with some great chemistry between Johnson and Pettis, that turns out to be just the right game plan.
