EUFAULA — At age 109, Anna Pendley isn't sure what to credit for her longevity that spans three centuries, but it certainly wasn't modern medicine.

"She never had many health problems,” said Sally Collins , one of Pendley's five grandchildren. "She went to the emergency room one time and she fainted. The doctor asked her about her longevity, and she said her secret was staying out of the doctor's office.” <...
