Bill would protect student expression of religious viewpoints

OKLAHOMA CITY - Students could not be prevented from expressing their religious viewpoints at Oklahoma public schools under legislation approved by state lawmakers Wednesday that its author said was not an attempt to put religion in the classroom.

"We are a religious nation," said Rep. Sally Kern, R- Oklahoma City . "We have a deep religious heritage."
