Following up his film debut in 2006's "Broken Bridges,” country star Toby Keith began filming "Beer for My Horses” last month, a road trip movie named after one of the Moore native's No. 1 hit singles.

"Beer for My Horses” tells the story of a group of small-town deputies and friends who defy the sheriff's orders and hit the road to save one of their girlfriends from kidnappers. Keith said he worked closely with one of his co-stars, country comedian Rodney Carrington, on the screenplay.
"I'm a writer,” Keith said in a statement.
"That's a huge part of what I do. And while most of the time it's songs, I've had a lot of fun with Rodney putting together a screenplay that borrows a title from one of those songs.
"And now we're in the process of turning that script into a film with the help of a lot of great people and friends of mine.
"It's a gratifying and creative experience, and I'm excited for people to see the end result.”
Directed by Michael Salomon ("CMT Total Release”), "Beer for My Horses” also stars Willie Nelson, Claire Forlani, Barry Corbin, Tom Skerritt and Ted Nugent. The film is produced by CMT Films, and is expected to be released this summer.
