Most of western Oklahoma is under a tornado watch today in the wake of severe weather, including softball-sized hail spotted in Buffalo.

Storms continue to move northeast through the state with 45 mile per hour winds and hail reported in the cities of Buffalo and Freedom near Alva, according to the service.

Meteorologists expect to see high winds and severe storms usher in a 30-degree drop in temperatures, providing the potential for penny- to golf ball-sized hail and winds in excess of 60 miles per hour and isolated tornadoes in central and southeastern parts of the state throughout this afternoon and evening.

Later tonight, rain is expected to turn to sleet and snow in the western areas of the state while central Oklahoma will continue to see rain throughout the night, the service said.

Monday, an inch or two of snow is expected to accumulate in western Oklahoma and north Texas, with strong north winds and wind chills in the 20s in the morning.
