Open competition
With three freshman wide receivers due to arrive later this summer and another expected to recover from injury by the fall, as many as eight players could be battling for the starting spot left vacant by Malcolm Kelly. But only four will be around competing this spring:

Brandon Caleb, So. (6-1, 196)

Caleb was a tremendous athlete in high school, winning a number of state championships in track, but a knee injury set him back last season. How he bounces back athletically will play a big part in how competitive he is for playing time.

Quentin Chaney, Sr. (6-5, 204)

It's time for Chaney to prove he can play every game like it's the Fiesta Bowl. Chaney has the physical tools to become a viable option at wideout, but has lacked enough consistency thus far in his career. Several talented underclassmen are waiting behind him, so Chaney can't afford to have a poor spring if he expects to start in the season opener.

Tyler Stradford, Fr. (6-1, 173)

Stradford has blazing speed, perhaps the best on the team. But can he run precise routes? Does he have reliable hands? Can he block well enough for the coaches to play him? These questions should be answered in the coming months, if not the spring.

Corey Wilson, Fr. (6-0, 179)

Wilson has the right pedigree — his older brother Travis was a standout receiver for the Sooners — but his name won't earn him any playing time. He'll have to do that on his own.
