Back and forth name calling and bickering is useless and stupid. Everyone stop. I truly hope that those of you doing it aren't older than 16.

And my right of free speech let's me say that racist, ignorant, completely unrelated posts aren't welcome on a sports message board. Defend them all you want, but what JJ wrote was offensive.

J, Crowder. Please point out anywhere in my post where i told someone to "to keep their mouths shut". Thank you for pointing out that free speech still exists Captain Obvious, but too many people also use "free speech" as a crutch to spew out their ignorant opinions, sometimes on completely unrelated topics. This is what i was directing my post at, not to people who i disagree with. Thanks for your support of free speech though, thats something you and i can agree on.

From what I've heard, Pettigrew, who was drunk (like most people are at some point in their college careers, and after even) thought that someone from the altercation grabbed him from behind (an ignorant move on the cops part) and elbowed him off of him, then realized it was a cop. A stupid situation to be in yes, but there are far worse things.

Excellent point J, JJ should be allowed to talk about racism openly with anyone he so chooses. I have an opinion, and it is for him to shut his mouth. That is MY right of free speech.

aaron, it's called free speech, if you don't like it, then don't read it. but telling someone to keep their mouth shut because you don't like their opinion only works in N. Korea, China, Cuba, etc...

I think that time period he comes from is the time period of the movie "Mississippi Burning."

JJ comes from a different time. A time when his daddy used to do that to minorities. JJ still lives in that time, and this is why he is the true loser. Roy clearly forgets about his own college teams problems and the players they have had. He just wants to make himself feel better because of his teams cheating and illegal actions. I feel bad for Roy as well, living in a one bedroom apartment in south OKC must suck. The sad thing is, these two posters have no idea about the case or what is happening, they just love to talk like they do!

Hey Roy, its been almost 2 years since coach Sutton's incident, so come up with some new material...reading these articles and seeing the ou/osu bashing is getting old...if you dont have something constructive to comment on from the article do us all a favor and keep your ignorance to yourself...I dont read too many of the ou articles but the few i have read osu fans (or at least suppossed fans) are guilty of this too, so i am not directing this just at ou fans...but these posts are put here for people to comment on the article or shed a different light on something or perhaps to point out a different point of view, not to see how many cheap shots we can take at the other schools or its student athletes...not to mention there a lot of stones being cast by people who probably have no business casting them...just a thought...

JJ, Your father sounds like a horrible horrible man. Your post seems to be evidence that you are likely much the same. We are lucky to live in a place where a person is assumed innocent and needs to be proven guilty. I for one am thankful that your father is (hopefully) no longer on the streets administering vigilant justice. Horrible!

And to clarify, I was referring to Thompson's lastest run-in with the law, where his conviction was thrown out because there was not sufficient evidence to convict him. Supporting my point that the police don't always get it right...

I don't defend people who make ignorant statements, so I can't speak to what is being posted on the Mike Reed article. But JJ's post is basically condoning racial profiling and police brutality. Can't see how that is appropriate in any article, whether it be OU or OSU.

Sorry OSU fan, Tulsa...this is minor compared to some of the garbage your comrades posted on an article about Mike Reed...so don't get your feathers ruffled. If JJ's dad had taken care of Charles, his life may have been affected in a more positive way than being incarcerated with killers. I wonder how many times Sutton met up with someone like JJ's dad before they had to arrest him...just my opinion...

Pettigrew = lOSUr. Too bad things have changed. When my dad was a cop a guy like this wouln't need a trial. The cops would have had their own "trial" and administered their "punishment" and there would have been no record of the incident. No arrest, no waste of taxpayers money on court hearings. Then, if this guy came up for another "trial" they would have quickly identified him as a repeat offender and punished him accordingly. Those days were much better for police. Less time filling out paperwork and more time administering the law of the land.

It is sometimes difficult for athletes to remember that the team is larger than any one person. I hope that things work out for Pettigrew and that he returns to aid his team in accomplishing their season goals. Go Pokes!
