Oklahoma State coach Kurt Budke praised Baylor's Kim Mulkey and Rachel Allison along with his own Shaunte' Smith after the Cowgirls beat the Lady Bears 72-68 on Thursday.
On Mulkey: "She has done an unbelievable job this year. I thought honestly at one point in time that Baylor was going to go undefeated in this league, when they had everybody healthy. But when Jhasmin Player went down, she didn't complain, she just kept going and she's done an amazing job with this team."
On Smith: "Shaunte' Smith and [Baylor post] Rachel Allison are the two most aggressive, hustling players in the Big 12 and you don't hear [Smith's] name enough but you're going to start hearing it."
New record: Budke's 11-win Big 12 season ranks as the new school record since the league's inception. OSU's total of 23 wins ties the school's second highest win total, set in 1992-1993.
"He's done an amazing job with this team and they just played their (tails) off tonight," Mulkey said. "Give them credit and give [Budke] credit. This program has come a long way in a short time."
Nearing a record: Sophomore Andrea Riley, the top scorer in the Big 12 and a candidate for the Naismith Trophy, sits eight points shy of tying Clinette Jordan for the OSU single-season scoring record after her 27-point performance against Baylor.
Quote of the night: "If you can't be champions, I guess second place is alright."
Kim Mulkey after her team's loss dropped the Lady Bears to a No. 2 seed in the Big 12 Tournament.
