When the owners of Oklahoma City's H&H Gun Range decided they wanted to add archery to its lineup of services, the entrepreneurs knew they wanted to purchase a company that would bring more than bow and arrows to the business.

That operation was Outdoor Outfitters, said Miles Hall founder and president of H&H.
"Truthfully, anyone can buy stuff, but what we were really into were the people,” Hall said.
H&H Gun Range officially took over Outdoor Outfitters Tuesday. Outdoor Outfitters' operation — including services, inventory and staff — will move into the H&H location at Interstate 40 and Meridian in early May, Hall said. He said the gun range is adding 7,500 square-feet to accommodate the new operation.
Adding archery to its offered services has been a goal for H&H for about three years, co-owner Leroy Ussery said.
"We were wanting to build a more competitive shooting store,” Ussery said. "Archery is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. It's grown 25 percent in the last five years,”
Although purchasing archery equipment would have been easier than buying a company, Ussery said it was what came with Outdoor Outfitters that made the acquisition worth the time and money.
"Archery is high-tech,” Ussery said. "You need to have employees to show people how to use them.
"You can't do it without having quality people who know the bows,” he said.
Before the purchase, H&H had 42 employees. Hall said the company will gain 11 more — including a manager who is a five-time world archery champ — when both operations are in the same location.
Along with offering archery, H&H will also carry the products that were found at Outside Outfitters, including clothing and an expanded inventory of firearms."We tell our staff it's not about H&H, it's all about the shooting sport, the industry,” Hall said.
