Open practice
The Cowboys' practice this Friday, their final session before they take a week off for spring break, will be the first practice open to fans and the media. The final 30 minutes Friday will feature a scaled-down scrimmage.

"We won't bring in officials or take someone down to the ground (on tackles),” coach Mike Gundy said. "I would doubt if we go more than 50 plays because we'll be out there an hour and a half before we scrimmage.”

•Fine-tuning: Gundy was asked what quarterback Zac Robinson needs to focus on.

"He needs to improve his accuracy, develop as a thrower,” Gundy said. "Zac can become a better passer. Part of that is the limited number of years he played quarterback. He really only had one year as a quarterback in high school.

"He's still developing as a thrower. As he continues to improve in that area he'll develop into a better overall quarterback, a better football player.”

Big hit: Safety Lucien Antoine, a junior college transfer, supplied the first big hit this spring at Friday's first practice in full pads. "Lucien really blew Dez (Bryant) up once,” Gundy said. "Dez needed it.”

•Easy transition: Co-offensive coordinator Gunter Brewer will coach quarterbacks after coaching receivers the past three years. Brewer said it should be an easy transition because of his relationships with Gundy and former offensive coordinator Larry Fedora.

"We've been sitting in the same room for 16 to 18 hours (a day) over the last three years,” Brewer said. "It will be the same language (offensively) that's been spoken. We want to keep everything the same.”

Lucien Antoine's nickname is "The Punisher." Gotta love it! Can't wait to see him light up opposing Big 12 receivers.
