Beginning next school year, Oklahoma State students will be able to buy football and men's basketball tickets without having to by an All-Sports Ticket. All other sporting events, including women's basketball, will be free with a valid student ID.

The OSU athletics department decided to change the ticketing policy after several meetings with student groups.
The new ticketing process will allow students to have printed tickets for football and men's basketball, eliminating the need to validate football tickets. The change will also give students the opportunity to buy season tickets through any method -- not just by charging the tickets to their student bursar account. Tickets will be available at the Student Union and at the athletics ticket offices.
“This change will make student seating general admission at all venues. It eliminates the football validation process,” said Craig Clemons, associate athletic director for external affairs and development. “Student tickets will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.”
Clemons said allowing students to enter all non-men's basketball and football games only with a valid ID was a big part of the decision.
“The students were very favorable to the proposed changes,” Clemons said. “They valued the fact that football or basketball tickets could be purchased independently of each other. They liked the idea of receiving a “book” of printed gameday tickets like our season ticket holders.”
“Students bring a unique element to our contests,” said Mike Holder, OSU’s athletics director. “We want to encourage home field and home court advantages at every opportunity through the energy provided by our loyal student fans.”
OSU is also going to offer football tickets to students at a discounted rate. A football season ticket will be $150.
OSU will open its 2008 football season on Aug. 30 in Seattle against Washington State. The Cowboys open the home season the following week against Houston. In 2009, the OSU-Georgia rematch will be a historic event as the kickoff celebration for the official opening of the completed Boone Pickens Stadium.

Do you know where I or any of these posters live or work? No, and the only reason we know about you is because you wanted to brag about your amazing house and car. We get it. I think I speak for everyone when I say you are the reason I would never want to live in Cali, amongst people who have no sense of reality. I find your comments and life amusing, you and your family would make a great reality show. Then we could all see how sweet your life is! I love it, you think that I don't work hard. Haha! You don't even know what I do for a living, and you won't. Because I am not going to self-promote myself on a message board, just to make myself feel better. Have fun justifying yourself and your life with your car, you deserve it because you work SO hard and I don't!
You guys can make all the inferior complex based remarks you want. I find them rather amusing anyhow. The have nots will always try to make people who work hard and acquire the finer things in life feel bad for it, but not me!
Actually I'm from south Texas, hence my San Antonio home. I'm not a big fan of Cali, this just happens to be where my practice is located due to partnership.
You people really are a great reason however that I would rather like here then amongst the trailer park dwellers.

Haha Steve, very nice! I thought that too. I bet Brian is the guy that inspired Demitri to have the chart on types of people who own Hummers. My personal favorite is the pie chart comparing the cuteness of a girl related to how much you can tolerate listening to her talk about how intuitive her cat is. "At a certain point, I don't care how cute you are, I don't want hear about your damn cat anymore!" Hilarity!
There's a saying that goes "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones." Okay. How about "Nobody should throw stones." That's crappy behavior. My policy is: "No stone throwing regardless of housing situation." Don't do it. There is one exception though. If you're trapped in a glass house, and you have a stone, then throw it. What are you, an idiot? So maybe it's "Only people in glass houses should throw stones, provided they are trapped in the house with a stone." It's a little longer, but yeah.

haha i saw the people in glass houses comment and thought of that quote
Actually Brian, I grew up in California and douche bags such as yourself usually have to write about the things you have to compensate for your other short comings....we'll leave it at that. By the way, the people I know in California don't feel it necessary to talk about their vacation homes, cars, or anything else to make themselves feel bigger than they actually are. If anything, you are making both my home state and your Sooners look worse with every ridiculous thought you decide to spout. If I were you, and thank God I'm not, I'd save the talk about your pilates work out and concentrate on raising your kids better than your parents raised you before they're run out of their home state as well.
Brian, a little testy are we? You did that to yourself with your bragging. You never answered my question, and by your latest post, one can conclude that you may be insecure. Keep making yourself feel better by telling posters they are rednecks. I will tell you that you are way too full of yourself. I lived in Cali. for awhile, and let me tell you, the people are just like yourself. Hope your kids don't grow up to be like you, a loser who justifies everything by how much money he has and how many football games OU wins.
You rednecks really crack me up! I responded to someone telling me that I felt 'better' than someone. Don't know if any of you LOSUr's have ever been to Cali before or not but most people in this area live the same lifestyle that I do if not even more so. I'm not going to apologize to anyone about being successful. You can sit there and say anything you want because it doesn't affect me personally. The only thing that I 'owe' on is a vacation home that I just bought in San Antonio Texas. I'm proud of my financial security and will not feel belittled by some rednecks who obviously don't have a clue. I am laughing at you guys as I type this, it's 6:40 am and I'm about to go for my morning workout and then head to Seaside to meet the wife and kiddo's for breakfast. You Agster's are really pathetic. Enjoy your daily trip to McDonald's for lunch and your Wal-Mart social extravaganza. All is good in my world!

Wait! I'm having a Goon moment! I'm measuring my manhood by the size of the house my bank owns and the amount I owe on a car I really can't affford... OK... now I think I'm over that no matter the debt I owe or the interest I pay... I want to show like the man I really know I'm not... little big man... Grapes of Wrath... I live in California... Jed Clampet... loser Squat Man moment. -------------------- What was it they used to say years ago when my dad taught at OSU? Oh... I remember now... , "If it weren't for all the students around here, this would be a great school to teach at." Imagine that... a school that actually throws a bone at their students... what will they think of next?
I don't know about ya'll but this is some funny reading on these posts..Especially with the negative comments on Big house Brian. I'm just ready for a comeback..From an outsider (KU Jayhawk fan)
I would be willing to wager that Brian from "California" actually lives in a double wide on the outskirts of Blanchard. Brian most likely drives a rusted-out 1985 F-150 pickup and works for the Blanchard city utilities department monitoring the sewage lagoons. I would guess that the only gates in his community are those entering the goat pens. He most likely failed his GED exams the first time he had a dental appointment, courtesy of DHS. I don't believe many of us bought into that line of BS.
Steve, from Flower mud, I drive a 1978 Land Cruiser with a custom installed Lincoln V8 6.6L that I paid 1/100th the amount you paid for the 150. I live in the USA via an Adventurer R.V. that has no property taxes, utilities, and minimal upkeep with the Detroit diesel engine. I drive 400 miles then park for 3 months at a time. I tow the Land Cruiser behind it doing 80mph on most highways. I get to park in the R.V. lot in Stillwater, put on all my Orange, and ride my Schwinn bicycle to the game and meet up with the rest of the Posse.
Yah, I remember you JJ. You were the midget that we could look at for a buck at the county fair. Glad to see that education is doing you well. Oh wait, I bet you didn't even go to college.
NEWSOK STAFF - Will you please stop allowing this bantering back and forth? This is a place for comments, not a message board to argue. I'm really becoming tired of OSU fans on OU stories and OU fans on OSU stories. The worst of both fanbases is really shining brightly!
OSU fan,
It was only intended to be funny but Brian was right. The comment was stupid on my part. Brian, JJ and Gary, Sorry for the ignorant and ill advised comment. DOK-please remove my earlier posts.

I'm a 51 year old OSU alum and I live in a modest 3500 square foot home in a regular subdivision in Flower Mound Texas. I drive an Eddie Bauer F150 pick-up and I'm no better than the OU alum from SoCal. I'm glad he is no better than me. I love my OSU Cowboys and win or lose, they will always be my college team in all sports. Take all this Bedlam talk to the Rivals Bedlam Board and make comments about this particular article. I personally think this ticket decision is terrific for the students. With the new stadium, we need to make getting tickets easier and more accessible to the students to help fill the stadium. There is no shame trying to take advantage of the larger seating capacity by changing the student ticket policy or even having promotional events at the stadium. After all, the reason for all of the athletic improvements is to be able to offer better facilities to the best recruits and be more competitive in all sports, but let's face it, more competitive in football. If we are able to execute the plan and win more consistently on the field, the stadium will begin to sell out like they do in Norman and trust me..the ticket plan will change again. Here's hoping OSU gets better on the field sooner than later. GO POKES!!
Wait, are you saying that there are sooner fans out there that actually care about men's basketball? You sure wouldn't know that by looking at the attendance. I guess the free admission, free hot dog, and free drink are still not enough to pack the house.
