Jobe has been interim provost of Murray State since August and was named interim president after Murray State President William Pennington died in a car wreck in October.

"I am humbled and honored to be selected,” he said. "I am at a loss for words to express my gratitude to the regents, faculty, staff and students of Murray State College for their support.”

Jobe earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education from East Central University, and a master of science in zoology and a doctorate degree from Oklahoma State University.

He has taught at East Central University, OSU, Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee and Missouri Southern State College in Joplin, Mo. He joined Murray State as a biology instructor in 2002.

Jobe's wife, Donna, is a counselor with student support services for Murray State College.
