Norman North goalie lifts U.S. Under-23 soccer team to win
Norman North product
Dominic Cervi started in goal for the U.S.Under-23 Men's National Team in a 1-0 win over
Honduras on Saturday at
Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla.
It was
Cervi's first appearance for the
U.S. team at any level. He earned the shutout with five saves and was named Man of the Match.
Cervi became the first Oklahoman in
Major League Soccer when the
Chicago Fire selected him in the first round of the year's
MLS SuperDraft in January. The
U.S. team moves on to the semifinals of the
CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament against an undetermined opponent Thursday at
LP Field in Nashville.
•Four Sooners named All-Americans: Oklahoma finished its indoor track season with four All-Americans, according to the U.S. Track & Field and
Cross Country Coaches Association.
Triple jumpers
Shardae Boutte and
Tydree Lewis, and
Sheldon Leith in the 60-meter hurdles, were men's All-Americans.
Leslie Cole was a All-American in the 400-meter dash on the women's team.
Going into the
NCAA Indoor Championships last weekend, the
Sooners had just one other All-American in the triple jump —
Jerome Douglas in 1995 and 1997.
Leith is the
Sooners' first honoree in the 60-meter hurdles.
Cole is a three-time All-American, the other two honors coming in 2007 as a member of
OU's indoor distance medly and 4x100 relays.

Gary Wright already leads the point standings.
Wright won his first ASCS feature of the season late Saturday at
Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas. He passed
Tony Bruce Jr. on the last lap and will go into Friday's races at State Fair with a 28-point standings lead over Oklahoma City driver
Wayne Johnson.
Newcastle driver
Trey Robb led Saturday night's race for three laps before his engine failed.
