Steer brings $52,000 at Youth Expo

Morgan Wynn of the Pittsburg County 4-H was the big winner as her champion steer sold for $52,000 on Thursday during the Champions Auction of the 2008 Oklahoma Youth Expo.

Purchasing the steer were Express Ranches, Bank of Western Oklahoma, Robyn Promotions, Limestone LLC, First Capital Bank and Sen. Richard Leblance.

The sale was the climax of the 11-day expo at State Fair Arena.

The top barrow, belonging to Stephanie Payne of Yukon FFA, was purchased by Oklahoma Farm Bureau and Blue and Gold Sausage for $25,000.

The champion lamb, belonging to Jade Terbush of Navajo FFA, was purchased by Touchstone Energy Cooperatives of Oklahoma for $23,000.

The top goat, belonging to Tyler Boles of Asher FFA, was purchased by FC Services of Oklahoma, Oklahoma Meat Goat Association, Oklahoma Farm Bureau and Oklahoma Youth Expo for $10,000.

Here are the top three winners in each division:

Steer

1. Morgan Wynn, Pittsburg County 4-H.

2. Morgan Swink, Guthrie FFA.

$10,000, The Oklahoman.

Barrow

1. Stephanie Payne, Yukon FFA.

$25,000, Oklahoma Farm Bureau, Blue and Gold Sausage.

2. Carli Newby, Lindsey 4-H.

$17,000, The Oklahoman, Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

3. Levi Moyers, Newcastle FFA.

$9,500, Stockman Order Buying, Central States Trailers.

Lamb

1. Jade Terbush, Navajo FFA.

$23,000, Touchstone Energy Cooperatives of Oklahoma.

2. Heather Glass, Elgin FFA.

$17,000, Chesapeake Energy Corp., Choctaw Nation Gaming.

3. Cooper Newcomb, Merritt FFA.

Goat
