Chaney has competition this spring
Quentin Chaney will be the favorite to replace
Malcolm Kelly as
OU's starting wide receiver next season. But
Chaney will have plenty of competition for the job this spring.
Chaney will have to fend off three talented redshirt freshmen in
Ryan Broyles,
Tyler Stradford and
Corey Wilson.
"The spring will be competitive. (
Chaney) will have to keep earning that, but we're hoping that's going to make a difference, just showing he can do it,” OU coach
Bob Stoops said. "Other guys like
Tyler Stradford and
Corey Wilson have really come along through the year and have shown promise to also be those kinds of guys. Corey's solid in route running and catching the ball and Tyler as well. Tyler has exceptional speed, so we'll see if those guys can make a difference.”
•Granger pre-trial hearing moved to April: OU defensive tackle
DeMarcus Granger was supposed to have his pre-trial hearing with a Tempe, Ariz., prosecutor earlier this month. But his attorney,
Jess Lorona, filed a motion to continue
Granger's pre-trial hearing on April 8, where
Granger or his attorney will meet with a prosecutor or plead to the court.
Granger was arrested back in January, accused of misdemeanor theft just before the
Fiesta Bowl.
•Sooners back on the field Monday: Following more than a week off for spring break,
OU will resume practice Monday. The
Sooners will hold their first open scrimmage next Saturday.
