Riley's ready to go to work
OSU sophomore point guard Andrea Riley, who suffered a bruised knee in the Cowgirls' first-round win over East Tennessee State, said she's 100 percent. "I just came down on it wrong,” Riley. "Everybody gets kinks and bruises. It's really not anything.”

Riley is the nation's eighth leading scorer (23.0).

"We have to try and find a way to contain her,” said Florida State coach Sue Samrau. "Obviously, we're not going to stop her. She's a tremendous talent. She does so many different things for their team.”

Difference maker: Florida State coach Sue Semrau said it's no coincidence the Seminoles have player better since Tanae Davis-Cain returned from a nine-game suspension in mid-January. Davis-Cain leads FSU in scoring (14.3).

"You can imagine what it was like to start the season with her, lose her for nine games and then insert her back into the lineup,” Semrau said. "She's someone who is so vital to us on both ends of the floor.”

Turnover troubles: The Cowgirls tied their season high with 21 turnovers in their first-round win Saturday night. Riley had a career worst nine turnovers.

"That was a bad game on my part,” Riley said. "East Tennessee was very athletic, played hard and was very physical. They came after me. At times, I made bad decisions. I always correct my mistakes. Turnovers won't be a problem this next game.”

Moore sidelined: FSU reserve forward Cayla Moore, a 6-foot-2 sophomore backup forward, suffered a torn MCL in her knee in the Seminoles' first-round win over Ohio State. Moore, who averages 3.6 points and 4.2 rebounds, will be sidelined for tonight's game.

Versatile player: Florida State's Mara Freshour, a 6-foot-1 junior, played point guard last season. This year she's played several positions, primarily power forward. Freshour averages 12.5 points and 5.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists.

"I've played a lot of four (power forward) but haven't played the five (center), yet. Maybe I can work on that next year,” Freshour joked. "I think our whole team is versatile. That helps me.”

Different look: Semrau said the one challenge the Cowgirls pose that is rarely seen in the ACC is OSU senior center Maria Cordero will step out and shoot 3-pointers. Cordero is 30-of-97 behind the arc.

"That will be an adjustment for us,” Semrau said. "We're pretty much a four out, one in the low block conference. Cordero will be an interesting matchup for us but it shouldn't be that difficult.”

Texas comparison: OSU coach Kurt Budke said Florida State is a lot like Texas, a long, athletic team that has been inconsistent. Sometimes the Seminoles struggle. Sometimes they can play with anyone in the country.

"It will be a tough matchup,” said OSU junior forward Shaunte Smith. "They're a great hustle team and we're a hustle team. It will come down to blocking out, getting rebounds and who wants it more.”
