Identity of city shooting victim released

A 22-year-old man was identified as a victim of a shooting last week in southwest Oklahoma City.

Jairo Chaves died Saturday morning at St. Anthony Hospital, about six hours after he was shot, police Sgt. Paco Balderrama said.

About 9 p.m. Friday, Chaves was shot was shot while riding in a car in the parking lot of Best Stop Food Mart, 2331 S Central Ave., Balderrama said.

Four or five men also were gathered in the parking lot outside the store. At least one of the men standing outside the convenience store fired an unknown number of shots at the car as it left the lot, Balderrama said.

Police do not have any suspects, nor a description of the man in the group that fired the shot.

Those with information about the shooting are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 235-7300.
