MUSTANG — A burning candle may be to blame in a $1.5 million apartment fire, officials said today.
Witnesses told investigators a candle was burning inside a downstairs apartment in Building 8 at Fieldstone Garden Apartments, 803 Fieldstone Way, when the fire started at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
About 30 people have been relocated since the blaze. No one was hurt.
Fire investigators did not find a candle in the rubble, so the official cause is listed as undetermined but accidental in nature, Deputy Fire Chief Roy Widmann said.
Building walls have been knocked down and cleanup continues this week to remove debris, Widmann said.
