A knowledgeable observer of State Fair Speedway's five dirt-car divisions offered a scouting report on drivers to watch in 2008:

SUPER SPRINTS

Chris Burns: "Chris is going for this third straight championship, and he's always tough to beat.”

Robert Sellers: "Sellers is racing in two divisions. Robert is always a contender.”

Danny Jennings: "Danny is a past champion. If he competes at the city for the full season and doesn't run full time with the ASCS National or Sooner region tour, he'll be a strong competitor for the championship.”

Others to watch: Jeff Leep, Whit Gastineau, Joe Wood Jr.

CHAMP SPRINTS

Gary Owens: "Gary is a tough competitor who's won championships at Lawton Speedway. Gary is looking for his first championship at State Fair Speedway.”

Frank Dittman: "He came on strong at the end of last season and showed strength and power in the Spring Nationals. Look for him to finish in the top five each week.

Michelle Decker: "Michelle has finished runner-up for the last three years. This could be her year to win the championship, but she'll face a lot of tough competition.”

Others to watch: Robert Sellers, Danny Jennings, Jamie Passmore

USA MODIFIEDS

Stanley Reed Jr.: "Reed is a past champion. Stanley always comes to the track capable of winning the race and the championship.”

Steve Smith: "Steve is a tough competitor in any division. Look for Steve to be in the contest for the championship each week.”

Tony Anderson: "He has a lot of races and wins under his belt. Look for him to be a tough competitor if he can avoid accidents on the track.”

Others to watch: Alan Oliva, Kyle Goforth, Doug Bragg

FACTORY STOCKS

Steve Clemmons: "He started the year with a win at the Spring Nationals. Look for him to be a contender for the championship.”

Justin Allen: "Good driver, good equipment, tough competitor.”

Jeremy Allen: "Now that he has a couple of years of experience under his belt, look for Jeremy to challenge his brother and other top competitors in the factory stock division.”

Others to watch: Kevin Becker, Shawn Jorski, Jeff Rozelle
