A Carter County wreck killed one man and another died when a dump truck backed over him Thursday in Coal County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

Harris C. Hutchins, 49, Sulphur

Hutchins died in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. 177 Thursday afternoon, the patrol said.

He was northbound about 3:30 p.m. eight miles north of Dickson in Carter County when his sport utility vehicle ran off the right side of the highway. It returned to the highway but then went off the right side again and rolled 3½ times.

Hutchins was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.

•Benny Robert Dale Fry, 34, Eufaula

Fry died on private property in Coal County about 13 miles north of Coalgate, troopers said.

About 11:25 a.m., Fry was directing traffic at a work site, troopers said.

As he was walking toward a bulldozer, he was run over by a dump truck driven by 25-year-old Stigler resident Matthew Ryan Lucero.

Troopers cited improper backing and pedestrian action as the cause of the accident.
